FloppyDisQ: Free Sampler Plugin for macOS and Android
Developer Erol Ozdemir of Techie Turk Design has launched FloppyDisQ, a tactile sampler instrument currently available as an open public beta for macOS and Android. Built for rapid sound design, the plugin centers on capturing incoming audio, slicing phrases, and manipulating playback speed with minimal latency.
FloppyDisQ combines vintage hardware sampling conventions with modern software flexibility. At the core of the instrument is a live Time Engine paired with 16 independent playback layers, granting producers precise control over time-stretching, pitch modulation, and reverse playback without offline processing delay.
The user interface focuses on tactile control, incorporating dedicated waveform slicing, root key mapping, and sample start/end trimming across your incoming MIDI notes. Whether you are generating dusty hip-hop chops, ambient drones, or down-pitched vocal effects, FloppyDisQ excels at adding texture and movement to raw recordings.
Key features include:
- 16 distinct sample layers with individual parameter routing
- Live Time Engine for real-time stretching and pitch manipulation
- Visual sample waveform editor with custom slice points
- Multi-octave keyboard mapping
- Cross-platform support across desktop hosts and mobile devices
FloppyDisQ is currently available at no cost via the FloppyDisQ project page during the public testing phase. Desktop users can load the plugin inside macOS DAWs running 64-bit VST3 or AU formats, while mobile producers can run the dedicated Android build.
