purpl: Free Chorus and Shimmer Reverb Plugin by tinyant
Indie developer tinyant has released purpl, a free shimmer reverb plugin for Windows and Linux. Described as a reverb that blooms, the tool combines pitch-shifted spatial reflections with an integrated chorus section to generate wide, ambient textures. Producers can grab the installer directly from the developer's website without creating an account or providing an email address.
Ethereal Shimmer Reverb and Stereo Modulation
Unlike traditional algorithmic reverbs designed strictly for realistic room simulation, purpl focuses on ethereal space and evolving reflections. The plugin routes feedback through an upward pitch shifter, allowing the reverb tail length to blossom into shimmering, harmonic clouds above the dry audio signal.
To complement the pitch-shifted tail, purpl incorporates an integrated stereo chorus circuit. This stage introduces subtle pitch modulation across the wet signal, creating extra movement and wider imaging without muddying the fundamental frequencies of your source material. It works particularly well on clean electric guitars, ambient synth pads, and dream-pop vocal leads.
